Gender and Global Scholarship

Gender and Global Scholarship

This working group is an interdisciiplinary group of graduate students, a postdoctoral fellow, and faculty members engaged in transnational gender research. Its specific goal is to connect with the Berkshire Conference on Women's History ("Big Berks") which for the first time, will be held in Toronto on 22-25 May 2014.  The conference theme, Histories on the Edge, will link research on migrants, bodies, sexualities, masculinities, and intimacies, Indigenous Peoples, the politically edged-out, imprisoned or colonised,  and politics, religion, and feminisms.  The working group will focus on developing new collaborative links with gender scholars, especially of Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa as well as Quebec and Indigenous scholars from universities in the GTA. We will provide three occasions for graduate students to share research in progress with established gender scholars from different programs and universities and invited scholars, and we will nurture international networks to ensure a multidisciplinary and global program for the 2014 Big Berks in Toronto.
