Hunting, Investigating and Excavating the Past : Effects of the Word/Image Apparatus and Photography

Professor L. Louvel is the Keynote Speaker at a one day conference (“The Word and Image Apparatus/Le Dispositif texte/image”) being held on Friday September 27, Private Dining Room,  Burwash Dining Hall, 91 Charles Street West, Victoria University from  9:00am to 5:00pm. Professor Louvel’s lecture will be followed by several conference papers, a round table and a reception.
Liliane Louvel is a Professor at the University of Poitiers and a renowned international scholar in word/image studies and contemporary British literature. She has published five books on this subject: L'Oeil du texte (1998), The Picture of Dorian Gray (2002), Texte/image, images à lire et textes à voir (2002) Le tiers pictural (2010) and more recently The  Poetics of the Iconotext (2011). She has also edited numerous collections of essays pertaining to this interdisciplinary field of inquiry. Liliane Louvel is presently the President of the European Society for the Study of English.

This event is organized by Professor J. LeBlanc, Département d’Études françaises/Centre for Comparative Literature, Victoria University: it is organized within the framework of “Words and Images; a Cultural and Interdisciplinary Enquiry” which is dedicated to the study of narrativity and iconicity. This conference is generously supported by Victoria University, the Département d’Études françaises, the Centre for Comparative Literature, and the Centre for the Study of France and the Francophone World (CEFMF).
