Coptic Heritage: Monasticism – Consistency and Change

The keynote speaker will be Professor Mark Sheridan O.S.B.  Benedict monk of Dormition Abbey, Jerusalem and Professor Emeritus , Faculty of Theology of the Pontificio Ateneo S. Anselmo, Rome. Professor Sheridan is a leading scholar in Coptic Monasticism.

The lineup of speakers and topics promises to be a very stimulating day. Registration at the door.

The Canadian Society for Coptic Studies (CSCS) has its offices are  at the U of T Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations (see below Officers).  The purpose of the CSCS  is to bring together individuals interested in Coptic Studies; and to promoting the dissemination of scholarly information  through the organization of meetings and conferences and through the preparation of scholarly works for publication. The CSCS publishes a peer reviewed journal which includes the papers presented at each symposium. Volume 6 will be published in March 2014.
