The Joint Centre for Bioethics is pleased to present the 15th Annual Alloway Lecture

Linda Emanuel, Director, Buehler Center on Aging, Health & Safety, Northwestern University

Care of the Human Spirit in Palliative and Hospice Care: How Can we Know What to Do?

This presentation will review the dramatic progress of science in palliative care in the last three decades in order to profile the need for more research into care of the human spirit in that setting. It will set out an agenda for research, a model for understanding the human experience of spiritual well-being and distress, and what is known in the field.

Linda Emanuel (MD, PhD) is Buehler Professor of Medicine and Director of the Buehler Center on Aging, Health & Safety at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.  She is Principal of the Education in Palliative & End of Life Care (EPEC) program, and Principal of the Patient Safety Education (PSEP) program.

This event is free and open to everyone.  Registration is not required.  For more information, please contact the Joint Centre for Bioethics at (416) 978-2709.
