COC Opera Exchange

The University of Toronto Faculty of Music, the Munk School of Global Affairs, and the Canadian Opera Company are pleased to present an Opera Exchange:

Directors take the Stage:  Debating Regieoper

Regieoper, or "director's opera" is one of the opera world's most polarizing topics.  In honour of the COC's new production of Mozart's Don Giovanni staged by Russian provocateur Dmitri Tcherniakov, join us for an afternoon of lively, engaging, and no doubt controversial discussion with directors Joel Ivany (Against the Grain Theatre) and Ashlie Corcoran (Artistic Director, Thousand Islands Playhouse); editor and critic Wayne Gooding (Opera Canada); singer Lawrence Wiliford; musicologists William Germano (Cooper Union); Linda and Michael Hutcheon (University of Toronto); Nina Penner (McGill University) as well as Russell Braun and Dmitri Tcherniakov, star and director of the COC's Don Giovanni.

Tickets:  $20 (Free tickets can be obtained University of Toronto faculty and full-time students with valid student ID on the day of the event)
