He is the author of The Muslims of Valencia in the Age of Fernando and Isabel: Between Coexistence and Crusade (1991), Jews in An Iberian Frontier Kingdom (2004), and A Jewish Renaissance in Fifteenth-Century Spain (2004). He has also edited Christians, Muslims, and Jews in Medieval and Early Modern Spain (1999), and “A Great Effusion of Blood”? Interpreting Medieval Violence (2004). He is now at work on a new project, “Of Bloodshed and Baptism: Social Violence and Religious Conflict in Late Medieval Valencia”, for which he has received support from The Guggenheim Foundation.
