Lecture by Gabriel Niccoli, St. Jerome's University / University of Waterloo

The Department of Italian Studies and the Emilio Goggio Chair in Italian Studies are pleased to present:

Gabriel Niccoli, St. Jerome's University / University of Waterloo

Re-Reading Past Criticism of Veronica Franco

Gabriel Niccoli researches, writes, and speaks, both in Italy and North America, on 16th-century comparative drama, women’s writing, and migratory literary issues.  These research activities flow naturally into the content of the various culture and literature courses that he teaches.  Trained as a comparatist, his teaching is often coloured by a communicative comparative approach to literature, especially the literature of 16th-century Italy and its literary and cultural rapports with both France and England.  These scholarly interests allow him to work closely with both the French and English departments where he teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Extremely active in the Italian-Canadian social and cultural fabric of Kitchener-Waterloo Guelph and Toronto, he is President or Honorary President of various organizations, and remains an avid promoter of many cultural events aimed at bringing the academy into the broader community.

This event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is requested. For further information, or to indicate that you will attend, please email the Department of Italian Studies at italian.studies@utoronto.ca or (416) 926-2345.
