Talk by Abigail Levin (Niagara University)

The Department of Philosophy presents

Abigail Levin (Niagara University) holds a Ph.D. in philosophy (2007), as well as a J.D (2000), both from the University of Toronto. Dr. Levin's primary research interests are in legal theory, political philosophy, and feminism. She also teaches and conducts research in eastern philosophy, environmental ethics, and animal rights. Her work has appeared in Public Affairs Quarterly and Philosophy in Review, and her book, The Cost of Free Speech was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2010. Dr. Levin's primary research interests are in legal theory, political philosophy, feminism, and continental philosophy. She also has interests in eastern philosophy, environmental ethics, and animal rights. Dr. Levin is currently working on two projects. The first is on questions involving the intersection of virtue ethics and justice for animals. The second is on reproductive technologies and their implications for contemporary feminism.
