BRUCE BENDERSON

Bruce Benderson reads new work and joins John Paul Ricco in a  conversation on literature, sex, writing, and the new degeneracy. copies of Benderson’s publications will be available for purchase.

Bruce Benderson. Author of Autobiographie érotique (2004), winner of the prestigious French literary prize, the Prix de Flore, and published in English as The Romanian: Story of an Obsession (2006). He is also the author of Public Agony (Semiotext(e)MIT, 2009) and the collection of essays, Sex and Isolation (University of Wisconsin, 2007), and the controversial 60-page essay, Against Marriage, exhibited at the 2014 Whitney Biennial. He has translated many books of French origin into English, including Tony Duvert’s Good Sex Illustrated, and Diary of an Innocent

This public conversation is part of “Sex, Ethics, and Publics” a Toronto-based research working group led by John Paul Ricco, Associate Professor of Comparative Literature, Art History and Queer Theory, University of Toronto.  This event is sponsored by Centre for Comparative Literature; Sexual Diversity Studies program; Department of Visual Studies; and SSHRC Insight Grant program.
