Staging Jewish Modernity

A two-day cabaret-style symposium devoted to the cross-disciplinart investigation of the multiple meanings of European Jewry before, during, and after the fin de siecle.  An emerging Jewish presence in art, literature, on stage, and elsewhere c.1870 through the 1930s is explored through the changing representations, negotiation, obsessions, and performative dimensions of Jewishness in musical, dramatic, cinematic and other contexts.
