“The Sensualist, an Extra-ordinary Reading  Experience: a Book and a Montage”

Professor Louvel is a renowned international scholar in word/image studies and contemporary British Literature. She is presently the President of the European Society for the Study of English. She has published numerous books on this subject: L’Oeil du texte (1998), The Picture of Dorian Gray (2002), Texte/Image, images à lire et textes à voir (2002), Le Tiers pictural (2010), The Poetics of the Iconotext (2011) and her latest book The Pictorial Third (translation by Angeliki Tseti) is forthcoming in 2018.

This event is organized by Professor Julie LeBlanc, Centre for Comparative Literature/Department of French, University of Toronto. It is organized within the framework of “Words and Images: a Cultural and Interdisciplinary Enquiry” which is dedicated to the study of narrativity and iconicity. 

This conference is generously supported by Victoria University, the Northrop Frye Centre, the Centre for Comparative Literature, the Department of French, the Centre for the Study of France and the Francophone World, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
