Lecture Series
The Department of History presents
Special Lecture series, “Eminent Victorians of Toronto”
Lecture Three:
Orenhyatekha
Speaker: Gayle Comeau
This new lecture series was the product of discussions between Faculty members at the University of Toronto and Ryerson University who wanted to tell the stories of notable Torontonians who might be unknown to the general public. The series includes Toronto's first female physician, a Mohawk doctor who was a member of the Orange Order, a Polish-Canadian immigrant who rose to become one of Canada's most famous engineers, a distiller who was one of the city's most successful businessmen, and two iconic politicians who rose to prominence and contributed to the making of the Canadian state.
