Bakhtin in Action: The Commedia dell'Arte and the Feast of Language

The recipient of fellowships from Villa I Tatti, Fulbright, and the NEH, Robert Henke is the author of Pastoral Transformations: Italian Tragicomedy and Shakespeare's Late Plays (Delaware), Performance and Literature in the Commedia dell'Arte (Cambridge), and co-editor, with Eric Nicholson, of Transnational Exchange in Early Modern Theater (Ashgate). Chair of the Performing Arts Department at Washington University, he is completing a book on poverty and charity in early modern theater. He is a member of "Theater Without Borders," an international research collective dedicated to transnational studies of early modern theater.
