Swimming Back to Trout River: Linda Rui Feng Book Reading

When and Where

Wednesday, January 26, 2022 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Linda Rui Feng
Irina Dumitrescu

Linda Rui Feng will be in conversation with Irina Dumitrescu about her recent novel, Swimming Back to Trout River, which was longlisted for a 2021 Giller Prize. The novel, set in China and the United States, explores the themes of music, migration, and how the titanic forces of history precipitate in smaller, more recessive lives.

There will be a short reading followed by a discussion, which will cover topics such as writerly craft and the possible relationships between scholarly writing and fiction. Registered attendees have a chance to win one of three copies of the book (courtesy of Simon & Schuster Canada)!

Linda Rui Feng is Associate Professor in the Department of East Asian Studies. She is currently a JHI faculty fellow working on the history of scent culture and aromatics in medieval and early modern China.
