Biography:
I am a fourth year undergraduate studying comparative literature and history. I am interested in Marxism, Deconstruction, Postcolonialism; Bengali and Sanskrit Literature; and subaltern predicaments.

What I'm Working On:
My project analyzes the nationalist iconography of the "Bharat Mata" in anti-colonial and post-colonial Bengali texts and art, particularly how it has been critiqued (such as in the works of Rabindranath Tagore) and appropriated in post-colonial contexts (such as the sculptures of Shamim Sikder). I am fundamentally concerned with how the representation of those left out of the archives, such as anti-colonial revolutionaries (like Bina Das and Pritilata Waddedar), and the "Birangonas" of post-liberation Bangladesh pose an epistemic problem to the dominant representation of the Bharat Mata as it figures in masculinist nationalist iconography and discourse.
