The University of Toronto’s Book History and Print Culture (BHPC) program is hosting its annual Graduate Student Colloquium in March, this Year’s theme being “The Book in Global Perspectives: Networks and Exchanges.” Our interactions with books situate us in the global communicative networks of which books are a part. The book as an idea has traveled across time and space and contributed to the way in which we see the world. These global networks of exchange have also shaped our typical notions of what constitutes the book. Thinking of the book in global terms also complicates our idea of what constitutes the book. We welcome broad interpretations of the theme, as well as discussions of diverse materials such as manuscripts, illustrations, maps, films, photographic plates, or digital documents through historical or bibliographic approaches.

The Colloquium is a multidisciplinary event which encourages graduate students, keynote speakers and independent scholars to present their research in a series of panels.
