JHI Circle of Fellows Spotlight—Eric Jennings

November 16, 2022

Eric T. Jennings (Ph.D. University of California-Berkeley, 1998) is Distinguished Professor of France and Francophone History. His areas of expertise include modern France, French colonialism, decolonization, and the francophone world. Eric is one of the JHI's Faculty Research Fellows for 2022-23.

Khanh Vo (Ph.D. College of William and Mary, 2021) completed her doctorate in American Studies and has consistently worked toward a career that spans academic teaching, public history, and the digital humanities, which she approaches through the lens of digital culture, game studies, and scientific and technological discourse.

Jaclyn Rohel has a PhD in Food Studies from New York University. At U of T, she is the New Media Public Humanities Postdoctoral Fellow at the JHI, and she also contributes to the Feeding City Lab and the new UTSC Sustainable Food and Farming Futures (SF3) Clusters of Scholarly Prominence Program.

Mitacs Brings Talented International Students to U of T to Work on a Rare and Unique Faculty Archive

Mitacs is a national not-for-profit organization that supports the creation of research and training programs in Canada. Mitacs programs financially assist academic researchers in providing on-the-job research training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.

Tif Fan is a 2021-22 JHI Undergraduate Fellow (Dr. Jan Blumenstein Undergraduate Award in the Humanities). They are completing a double major in East Asian Studies and Political Science. Their project is titled "A Panoply of Play: The Subversions and Conversions of Monkey King in Journey to the West".

Jaclyn Rohel earned her Ph.D. in Food Studies at New York University in 2018. She is the Reviews Editor of the journal Gastronomica. Jaclyn is JHI's 2021-2022 Community Engaged Humanities Research Fellow.

Anna Paliy is a doctoral candidate in the Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies at University of Toronto. She holds an Honors BA (UWO, 2014) in Comparative Literature and an MA (U of T, 2015) in Comparative Literature and Book History & Print Culture. Anna is JHI's 2021-2022 Amilcare Iannucci Graduate Fellow.

Alex de Guzman is a 2021-22 JHI Undergraduate Fellow (Jukka-Pekka Saraste Undergraduate Award in the Humanities). He’s completing a specialist in Philosophy. His project at the JHI is titled “Aesthetic Boredom: Heroic Higher Pleasure”.

Mukti Patel is a 2021-22 JHI Undergraduate Fellow (Milton Harris Undergraduate Award in the Humanities). She’s completing a specialist in the Study of Religion and a minor in Writing and Rhetoric. Her project at the JHI is titled “Pleasure in (Divine) Presence”.
